The Lesson of the MANA

The lesson of the "MANA"

King James Bible 1611: Exodus 16:14-35

[14]And when the dewe that lay was gone vp, behold, vpon the face of the wildernesse there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoare frost on the ground.

--> MANA was small, and round.

[15]And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is Manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said vnto them, This is the bread which the Lord hath giuen you to eate.

-->. It was named MANA by the children of Israel
--> It was their bread that the Father gave them

[16]¶ This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded: gather of it euery man according to his eating: an Omer for euery man, according to the number of your persons, take yee euery man for them which are in his tents.

-->The children of Israel were able to gather as much as they needed for the number of people in their tents, up to an Omer each.

[17]And the children of Israel did so, and gathered some more, some lesse.

-->. The children of Israel did gather MANA every day

-->  They gathered without checking the measurement, when they were supposed to.

[18]And when they did mete it with an Omer, he that gathered much, had nothing ouer, and he that gathered litle, had no lacke: they gathered euery man according to his eating.

-->when the MANA was measured, nothing was left, everything they had was enough.

[19]And Moses saide, Let no man leaue of it till the morning.

-->. They were supposed to use everything they had gathered each day.

-->Nothing was to be left until the next morning.

[20]Notwithstanding they hearkened not vnto Moses, but some of them left of it vntill the morning, and it bred wormes, and stanke: and Moses was wroth with them.

--> They did not listen to Moses.

-->They left it until the next day and it smelled and had worms.

--> That also means they took too much.

-->Moses was very angry.

-->They still were not paying attention.

[21]And they gathered it euery morning, euery man according to his eating: and when the Sunne waxed hot, it melted.

-->They gathered the MANA every day.

--> The MANA melted in the hot sun, so they had to gather in the early morning.

[22]¶ And it came to passe that on the sixt day they gathered twice as much bread, two Omers for one man: and all the rulers of the Congregation came and told Moses.

--> on the 6th day they gathered twice as much, Ie 2 Omers for each man

[23]And he said vnto them, This is that which the Lord hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy Sabbath vnto the Lord: bake that which you will bake, to day, and seethe that ye will seethe, and that which remaineth ouer, lay vp for you to be kept vntill the morning.

--> the following day was the Sabbath

--> on the sixth day they were to gather twice as much per person

-->on the sixth day they were able to cook(bake, seethe, etc.) for the 7th day

--> use everything they had from the 6th day for the 7th day that was leftover.

[24]And they laid it vp till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stinke, neither was there any worme therein.

-->They did kept it till the Sabbath morning

-->It did not stink

-->it did not have worms

[25]And Moses saide, Eate that to day, for to day is a Sabbath vnto the Lord: to day yee shall not finde it in the field.

-->Moses again said eat from what was prepared on the 6th day for the seventh day and to not go out to the field to look.

[26]Sixe dayes ye shall gather it, but on the seuenth day which is the Sabbath, in it there shall be none.

--> Again, gather 6 days, but do not gather (no work, no going out to work)

[27]¶ And it came to passe, that there went out some of the people on the seuenth day for to gather, and they found none.

-->Some of the people did not listen.  They went out.
--> There was no MANA on the 7th day.

[28]And the Lord said vnto Moses, How long refuse yee to keepe my Commandements, and my Lawes?

-->The Father was angry because they did not listen.

-->The things of the MANA are laws and commandments.

[29]See, for that the Lord hath giuen you the Sabbath, therefore hee giueth you on the sixt day the bread of two dayes: abide yee euery man in his place: let no man goe out of his place on the seuenth day.

-->No one is supposed to go somewhere else on the 7th day Sabbath.  Everyone is supposed to stay where they are.

-->Sabbath is a day of rest which was given

-->The food is sufficient on the sixth day for the 7th day.

[30]So the people rested on the seuenth day.

-->The people rested on the 7th day. The Sabbath.  They did no work with food, such as preparation, cooking, baking, etc.  They did eat.

[31]And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna: and it was like Coriander seed, white: and the taste of it was like wafers made with hony.

-->MANA was white and tasted like honey wafers

The lesson of the MANA:
1. We must trust the Father, he will give enough. King James Bible 1611, Exodus 16:14-35

2.  We can work six days. King James Bible 1611, Exodus 16:26; Exodus 31:15

3.  On the 7th day, the Sabbath we can not go out past a certain distance (2952 Feet= 900 Meters=2000 Elbows) King James Bible 1611, Acts 1:12, Numbers 35:5, Joshua 3:3-4

4.  On the Sabbath Day, we eat what is prepared previously.  King James Bible 1611, Exodus 16:14-35

5.  On the Sabbath day we rest. King James Bible 1611, Exodus 16:14-35, Exodus 20:11, Leviticus 23:3

6.  On the Sabbath day, we can not cook, nor prepare food. King James Bible 1611, Exodus 16:14-35

7.  We should trust that our food we have prepared will still be unspoiled on the Sabbath day. King James Bible 1611, Exodus 16:14-35

8.  Don't forget on Sabbath we are also not supposed to light a fire:  King James Bible 1611, Exodus 35:3

9.  Don't forget the Father gave us a distance we are able to travel on the Sabbath: King James Bible 1611, Acts 1:12;

10. Don't forget we can't buy or sell on the Sabbath, or allow anyone who lives with us to do that: King James Bible, 1611,

11.  Don't forget we can't work or allow those with us to work (Buying and Selling are forms of work): King James Bible 1611, Deuteronomy 5:14

12.  Don't forget we can't bear burdens: King James Bible 1611, Jeremiah 17:21

13.  Don't forget we need to call the Sabbath a delight: King James Bible 1611, Isaiah 58:13

14.  Don't forget to keep the Sabbath Holy.   King James Bible 1611: Exodus 20:08.

So the lessons of the MANA are huge.  We learn lessons that apply to our daily life, and to the Sabbath. We learn we should always trust the commandments and laws for they are not there to do harm to us, rather to take care of us.
