What exactly is the law of the Sabbath?

We start with the picture above.  (King James Bible 1611, Exodus 20)  How are we supposed to keep the Sabbath Holy?

A.  King James Bible 1611, Exodus 31: 12-18

12 ¶ And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
13 Speake thou also vnto the children of Israel, saying, Uerely my Sabbaths ye shall keepe: for it is a signe betweene me and you, throughout your generations, that ye may know that I am the Lord, that doth sanctifie you.
14 Yee shall keepe the Sabbath therefore: for it is holy vnto you: Euery one that defileth it, shall surely be put to death: for whosoeuer doth any worke therein, that soule shall be cut off from amongst his people.
15 Sixe dayes may worke bee done, but in the seuenth is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord: whosoeuer doth any worke in the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keepe the Sabbath, to obserue the Sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetuall couenant.
17 It is a signe betweene me and the children of Israel for euer: for in sixe dayes the Lord made heauen and earth, and on the seuenth day he rested, and was refreshed.
18 ¶ And he gaue vnto Moses, when hee had made an end of communing with him vpon mount Sinai, two tables of Testimonie, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

a.  Keep it Holy, No work, Only Rest (this includes anyone on your land or in your house according to Nehemiah))

B.  King James Bible 1611, Exodus 35: 1-3

1 And Moses gathered all the Congregation of the children of Israel together, and said vnto them; These are the wordes which the Lord hath commanded, that yee should doe them.
2 Sixe dayes shall worke be done, but on the seuenth day there shall be to you an holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the Lord: whosoeuer doeth worke therein, shall be put to death.
3 Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations vpon the Sabbath day.

b.  Do not start a fire, Keep it Holy, No work, Only Rest  (this includes anyone on your land or in your house according to Nehemiah))

C.  King James Bible 1611, Exodus 20:8-11

8 Remember the Sabbath day, to keepe it holy.
9 Sixe dayes shalt thou labour, and doe all thy worke:
10 But the seuenth day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not doe any worke, thou, nor thy sonne, nor thy daughter, thy man seruant, nor thy mayd seruant, nor thy cattell, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in sixe dayes the Lord made heauen and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seuenth day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and halowed it.

c.  Keep it Holy, Don't work or permit your children, or your animals to work, don't permitt servants or visitors to work, Rest (this includes anyone on your land or in your house according to Nehemiah))

D.  King James Bible 1611, Nehemiah10:31

  31 And if the people of the land bring ware or any victuals on the Sabbath day, to sell, that we would not buy it of them on the Sabbath, or on the holyday, and that wee would leaue the seuenth yeere, and the exaction of euerie debt.

d. No Selling, no buying (this includes anyone on your land or in your house according to Nehemiah)

E.  King James Bible 1611, Nehemiah13:15-18

15 ¶ In those dayes sawe I in Iudah, some treading wine presses on the Sabbath, and bringing in sheaues, and lading asses, as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all maner of burdens, which they brought into Ierusalem on the Sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day wherein they solde victuals.
16 There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish and all maner of ware, and solde on the Sabbath vnto the children of Iudah, and in Ierusalem.
17 Then I contended with the Nobles of Iudah, and sayd vnto them, What euill thing is this that ye doe, and profane the Sabbath day?
18 Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this euill vpon vs, and vpon this citie? yet ye bring more wrath vpon Israel, by profaning the Sabbath.

F.  King James Bible 1611, Exodus 16:22, 26,29

22 ¶ And it came to passe that on the sixt day they gathered twice as much bread, two Omers for one man: and all the rulers of the Congregation came and told Moses.
23 And he said vnto them, This is that which the Lord hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy Sabbath vnto the Lord: bake that which you will bake, to day, and seethe that ye will seethe, and that which remaineth ouer, lay vp for you to be kept vntill the morning.
24 And they laid it vp till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stinke, neither was there any worme therein.
25 And Moses saide, Eate that to day, for to day is a Sabbath vnto the Lord: to day yee shall not finde it in the field.
26 Sixe dayes ye shall gather it, but on the seuenth day which is the Sabbath, in it there shall be none.
27 ¶ And it came to passe, that there went out some of the people on the seuenth day for to gather, and they found none.
28 And the Lord said vnto Moses, How long refuse yee to keepe my Commandements, and my Lawes?
29 See, for that the Lord hath giuen you the Sabbath, therefore hee giueth you on the sixt day the bread of two dayes: abide yee euery man in his place: let no man goe out of his place on the seuenth day.
f. No Gathering, No Cooking, Don't go out of your place(this includes anyone on your land or in your house according to Nehemiah)

G.  King James Bible 1611, Isaiah 58:13-14

13 ¶ If thou turne away thy foote from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my Holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable, and shalt honour him, not doing thine owne wayes, nor finding thine owne pleasure, nor speaking thine owne wordes:

14 Then shalt thou delight thy selfe in the Lord, and I will cause thee to ride vpon the high places of the earth, and feede thee with the heritage of Iacob thy father; for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
g.  Not doing your own pleasure, Calling the Sabbath a delight, Honour the Father, Not speaking your own words(this includes anyone on your land or in your house according to Nehemiah)

 So now, you have the full Sabbath Law.  It is your choice.  I prepare on Thursday or Friday to keep the law.  So should you.  If you love Yeshuah.

 

The Sabbath Begins at sunset on Friday night before twilight and ends after twilight on Saturday night:

5 And God called the light, Day, and the darknesse he called Night: and the euening and the morning were the first day.

 Note:  The evening comes before the day.
