King James Bible 1611 Psalms 90

1 A prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, thou hast bene our dwelling place in all generations.2 Before the mountaines were broughtforth, or euer thou hadst formed the earth and the world: euen from euerlasting to euerlasting thou art God.
3 Thou turnest man to destruction: and sayest, Returne yee children of men.
4 For a thousand yeeres in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past: and as a watch in the night.
5 Thou carriest them away as with a flood, they are as a sleepe: in the morning they are like grasse which groweth vp.
6 In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth vp: in the euening it is cut downe, and withereth.
7 For we are consumed by thine anger: and by thy wrath are we troubled.
8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee: our secret sinnes in the light of thy countenance.
9 For all our dayes are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our yeeres as a tale that is told.
10 The dayes of our yeres are threescore yeeres and ten, and if by reason of strength they be fourescore yeeres, yet is their strength labour and sorrow: for it is soone cut off, and we flie away.
11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? euen according to thy feare, so is thy wrath.
12 So teach vs to number our daies: that wee may apply our hearts vnto wisedome.
13 Returne (O Lord) how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy seruants.
14 O satisfie vs early with thy mercie: that we may reioyce, and be glad all our dayes.
15 Make vs glad according to the dayes wherein thou hast afflicted vs: and the yeeres wherein we haue seene euil.
16 Let thy worke appeare vnto thy seruants: and thy glory vnto their children.
17 And let the beautie of the Lord our God be vpon vs, and establish thou the worke of our hands vpon vs: yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.

Introduction

• The Psalm is a summary and reminder of the duration of our life. (Proverbs 19: 20-21, 23)

•• Many events based on carelessness, illness, genetic problems, negligence, etc ... maybe we will not reach 70 years or possibly arrive but not complete. (Psalm 89: 47-48)

••• So what to do with the years the Eternal One lends us? (Ecclesiastes 2: 3, 10-11) Since when should I start preparing? (Genesis 8:21, Ecclesiastes 11: 9)

1. Accept the Almighty and obey him always (v. 3)

• Although we do not know how many years or how long we will live, in each day there is a precise moment that is a new opportunity to come to terms with God (Romans 2: 5, Isaiah 55: 6-7, Psalm 34: 11- 16).

•• God wants our true repentance and does not want our eternal condemnation (1 Timothy 2: 4, Isaiah 45: 20-22).

2. Confess our sins and definitely change our old way of being (v. 8)

• God knows our sins well, but we must confess them to him (1 John 1: 9-10, 2 Corinthians 5:17), as well as asking and giving forgiveness to those who have offended or offended us. (Matthew 5: 23-26, Luke 2: 4)

•• A humble attitude will receive forgiveness (Luke 18: 10-14).

3. Take advantage of our days of life without losing the target (v. 10)

• The Bible teaches us to make good use of time (Luke 12:15, John 6:27, Ephesians 5: 16-20, Joshua 1: 7-9).

•• Today is the time to put yourself at peace with God and serve Him until the end of our days (2 Corinthians 6: 2, Ecclesiastes 12: 1).

Conclusion

• We can do many things in life: work to be successful, travel, enjoy time with family, eat the most delicious dishes. (Ecclesiastes 2: 1-23)

•• But there is nothing better than to be at peace with God. (Ecclesiastes 2: 24-26, Hebrews 12:14, Hosea 10:12)

<1 Corinthians 15:19>
