King James 1611, Jeremiah 31:
15¶ Thus saith the Lord; A voyce was heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping: Rahel weeping for her children, refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.
Rachel was weeping because the children had all been killed.
Why?
Because Herod wanted to kill Yeshuah. Joseph and Mary had fled to Egypt with the baby Christ to save his life.
King James Bible 1611, Matthew 2:
16 ¶ Then Herode, when hee saw that hee was mocked of the Wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent foorth, and slewe all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two yeeres olde and vnder, according to the time, which he had diligently enquired of the Wise men.
17 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Ieremie the Prophet, saying,
18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
Imagine the people all crying and weeping at the killing of all the children that went on throughout the ancient territories of Israel, as the saviour of the world was in Egypt.
