Teach me to Pray Without Ceasing

The earliest prayer I remember was when I was two years old or younger, it goes like this:

Now I lay me down to sleep

I pray the Lord my soul to keep

if I should die

Before I wake

I pray the Lord my Soul

to take

God Bless Momma and Dadda 

and the little baby too, and the animals

and my kitty and doggie too. 

I do not know how I learned this prayer.  I remember my mother telling me to kneel down beside my bed to say my prayers.  I do not remember her telling me what to say.  These are the words that came from my little child's heart.

We are told we must pray like this to be heard, and even to be able to enter heaven:

King James Bible 1611, Matthew 18

1 At the same time came the Disciples vnto Iesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the Kingdome of heauen?

2 And Iesus called a little child vnto him, and set him in the midst of them,

3 And said, Uerily I say vnto you, Except yee be conuerted, and become as little children, yee shall not enter into the kingdome of heauen.

4 Whosoeuer therefore shall humble himselfe as this little childe, the same is greatest in the Kingdome of heauen.

5 And who so shall receiue one such little child in my name, receiueth me.

6 But who so shall offend one of these little ones which beleeue in me, it were better for him that a milstone were hanged about his necke, and that hee were drowned in the depth of the Sea.

7 ¶ Woe vnto the world because of offences: for it must needs be that offences come: but wo to that man by whom the offence commeth.

8 Wherefore if thy hand or thy foote offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather then hauing two hands or two feete, to be cast into euerlasting fire.

9 And if thine eie offend thee, plucke it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eie, rather then hauing two eies, to be cast into hell fire.

10 Take heed that yee despise not one of these little ones: for I say vnto you, that in heauen their Angels do alwaies behold the face of my father which is in heauen.

 Do you pray as a little child?  Do you remember to pray?

In these end times we are called to pray without ceasing.  That means without stopping.  Is your heart in the place where you can pray as a little child without stopping as you do your daily things?

Once someone told me to listen to myself.  He said do you hear yourself?  You are praying even as you talk and as you work.

It is possible to be in that place.  If only you remember what it was to pray as a little child.

King James Bible 1611, James 5:

12 But aboue all things, my brethren, sweare not, neither by heauen, neither by the earth, neither by any other othe: but let your yea, be yea, and your nay, nay: lest yee fall into condemnation.

13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing Psalmes.

14 Is any sicke among you? let him call for the Elders of the Church, and let them pray ouer him, anointing him with oyle in the Name of the Lord:

15 And the prayer of Faith shall saue the sicke, and the Lord shall raise him vp: and if hee haue committed sinnes, they shall be forgiuen him.

16 Confesse your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that yee may bee healed: the effectuall feruent prayer of a righteous man auaileth much.

17 Elias was a man subiect to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not raine: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three yeeres and sixe monethes.

18 And hee prayed againe, and the heauen gaue raine, and the earth brought foorth her fruit.

19 Brethren, if any of you doe erre from the trueth, and one conuert him,

20 Let him know, that hee which conuerteth the sinner from the errour of his way, shall saue a soule from death, and shall hide a multitude of sinnes.

 So, brothers and sisters we must pray.  If we fail to pray without ceasing we are missing opportunities for many things.  Even Elias had to pray more than once for the same thing.  Why?  Because sometimes the Father wants to know if our heart is really tuned in to him.  But he will send that which is right, at the right time no matter how big.  I have seen this in my life, and I am witness to this.  

King James Bible 1611, 2 Corinthians 10:

3 For though we walke in the flesh, we doe not warre after the flesh:

4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling downe of strong holds.)

5 Casting down imaginations, and euery high thing that exalteth it selfe against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captiuitie euery thought to the obedience of Christ:

6 And hauing in a readinesse to reuenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

 King James 1611, Ephesians 6:

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the deuill.

12 For wee wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darknes of this world, against spirituall wickednes in high places.

13 Wherfore take vnto you the whole armour of God, that yee may be able to withstand in the euill day, and hauing done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, hauing your loynes girt about with trueth, and hauing on the breast-plate of righteousnesse:

15 And your feete shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace.

16 Aboue all, taking the shielde of Faith, wherewith yee shall bee able to quench all the fierie dartes of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of saluation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying alwayes with all prayer and supplication in the spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseuerance, and supplication for all Saints,

19 And for mee, that vtterance may be giuen vnto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make knowen the mysterie of the Gospel:
