Bible Study: What are the seven DEADLY SINS?
LUST: Lust is that which we long for and yearn for. It is often associated with sexual things, but is not only this. We become focused on such things, to the detriment of all other things.
The Word says( KJB 1611, 2 Timothy 2:22):
Flie also youthfull lusts: but follow righteousnesse, faith, charitie,
peace with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
(FLIE MEANS FLEE)
The Bible also mentions lust in the following verses: Job 31:1, Matthew
5:28, Philippians 4:8, James 1:14-15, 1 Peter 2:11 and 1 John 2:16.
Self Denial does not cure lust. Rather examening yourself for the cause of these desires, and if they be clean and HOLY or not. If the Father has not given them to you they are not what you should have.... If we practive chasity or self control but do not cure the affliction that causes us to LUST, we will fall.
GLUTTONLY: Gluttony is often associated with food or drink. But a person can be gluttonous simply in their way of life.
The Word says (KJB 1611, 1 Corinthians 10:31)Whether therfore ye eat or drinke, or whatsoeuer ye doe, doe all to the glory of God.
Additional Bible references include: Psalm 78:17-19, Philippians
3:19-20, Proverbs 23:1-3, Proverbs 23:19-21 and 1 Corinthians 3:16-17.
Again we could say temperance in all things cures gluttony, but this IS also an affliction of the spirit. Why would you hoard anything?
The Bible says (KJB 1611, 1 Corinthians 10:33) Euen as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine owne profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saued.
So we should we should be seeking that which is good for all, not just for ourselves. If we take more than we need in anything, we are gluttonous. What in your spirit makes you think you need more than others? Seek this out and destroy it before it destroys you.
GREED: Greed is often associated with money, but also is similar to Gluttony, and can mean material things, positions, and other such things.
The Word Says, (KJB 1611, Hebrews 13:5)
Let your conuersation bee without couetousnesse: and be content with
such things as yee haue. For hee hath said, I will neuer leaue thee, nor
forsake thee.
So, we are to be content with what the Father has given us, and be thankful he has given us what we have.
Other biblical texts which mention greed include: Exodus 20:17, Proverbs
11:24, Proverbs 28:25, Ecclesiastes 5:10, Philippians 4:6 and 1 Timothy
6:9-10.
Charity some would be considering to be a cure for greed. But again I tell you it is not so. Greed is not accepting what we have been given, but taking more and more. This means again we have a soul defect that can lead us into eternal damnation. Why do we want everything? What is wrong with our intyernal soul state that we should desire such things?
SLOTH: Sloth is us being untidy in our ways, living condition, and life, as well as, not doing work in the 6 days we have been given.
The Word says (KJB 1611, Proverbs 6:6)
¶ Goe to the Ant, thou sluggard, consider her wayes, and be wise.
King Solomon spoke this and said we should not be slow, or slothful in what we do, but instead should be like the ant:
Which hauing no guide, ouerseer, or ruler,
8 Prouideth her meat in the Summer, and gathereth her food in the haruest.
9 How long wilt thou sleepe, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleepe?
10 Yet a little sleepe, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleepe.
11 So shall thy pouertie come as one that trauaileth, and thy want as an armed man.
So, we should do as the ant does. Working hard day and night, being orderly in our manner.
The Bible also mentions sloth in the following verses: Proverbs 13:4,
Proverbs 24:33-34, Romans 12:11-13, Colossians 3:23 and 2 Thessalonians
3:10.
Some would say Diligence and zeal would cure the condition of Sloth, but again I tell you it is not so. Sloth is a condition of the heart, that you must question yourself on and cure without haste.
WRATH: Wrath is a flaming anger, that may include hate towards a person, place or thing.
The Word says: (KJB 1611, Romans, 12:19)
19 Dearely
beloued, auenge not yourselues, but rather giue place vnto wrath: for
it is written, Uengeance is mine, I will repay, saith the Lord.
Additional Bible verses include: Psalm 37:8, Proverbs 14:29, Proverbs 15:1, Ephesians 4:26-27, Colossians 3:8 and James 1:19-20.
So we should forgive, and if we struggle with this, pray unto heaven to give swift payment for what has been done, and to also save our brother and sister. For you anger will then be brought to a good purpose, and the Father will work the payment upon the heads of those that have done wrong.
It could be said that patience will cure our wrath and anger. But I lift up to you that this wrath and anger is also a condition of the soul. If we fail to examine ourselvces we will be as the brother of Issac, Esau, who was cast off, as was Cain who made the first killing also in wrath.
ENVY: Envy occurs when we lack a desired attribute enjoyed by another. We feel more than jealous, and harbor other undesirable feelings toward someone.
The Bible says: (KJB 1611, Proverbs 14:30) 30 A sound heart, is the life of the flesh: but enuie, the rottennesse of the bones.
Other biblical texts which mention envy include: Job 5:2, Psalm 37:1,
Proverbs 24:19-20, Ecclesiastes 4:4, Galatians 5:26 and James 3:14-16.
Kindness is not the cure of Envie. This is us being against the Father, for we are not satified with what we have, and it is a direct soul state where we accost him, not just our brother or sister.
PRIDE: It is often said, Pride comes before a Fall.
The Bible says: (KJB 1611, Jeremiah 9:23)
23 ¶
Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither
let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his
riches.
So, we are not to glory in anything. Glory alone is for the Father of ALL. If we glory in ourself, an attribute, a thing we have, we are lifting ourselves up as SATAN did before his FALL.
This is an obvious soul defect.
Other scripture also mentioned on pride in the following verses: Proverbs 8:13, Proverbs
16:18, Romans 12:16, 1 Corinthians 13:4, Galatians 6:3 and James 4:6-7.
Instead be ye like King Hezekiah who humbled himself before the Father, so that Evil was taken away from him in his days. The punishment still came upon the evil. Just not upon Hezekiah. Rend your HEART, and your SOUL and Purge your LIPS and BE YE CLEAN Before HIM that which is HOLY.
KJB 1611, 2 Chronicles 32:26
|
Notwithstanding, Hezekiah humbled himselfe
for the pride of his heart, (both hee and the inhabitants of Ierusalem)
so that the wrath of the Lord came not vpon them in the dayes of
Hezekiah.
